Courtyards provide daylight, planting and orientation while protecting guest rooms from public movement and weather. They also create several distinct quiet places instead of one large lobby. The architecture encourages short pauses throughout the day without making silence feel like a rule imposed on every shared room.
Food, reading and deliberate quiet
Cloisters balances a social dining room with smaller libraries where conversation and devices naturally recede. The seasonal menu is concise, and breakfast continues late enough for slow mornings. Quiet is supported through layout and acoustics rather than extensive instructions, making the atmosphere welcoming rather than severe.
Planning a restorative two or three nights
Keep the first day close to the courtyards, reserve one bathing session and use the second for a longer local walk. A third night allows time in the library or another garden without a fixed objective. Reader Suites suit indoor time, while Quiet Houses provide more separation from the main building.
